KidPix Minibeasts pictures made by us!

At the beginning of the year we were lucky enough to have a swan plant in our classroom so we did a mini inquiry about the Monarch Butterfly, which we really enjoyed. It was amazing watching the day-to-day changes that occurred from the hatching of the tiny eggs, to the beautiful butterflies emerging from their chrysalis.

We ended up having six very fat, hungry caterpillars and Mrs Garth had to buy more plants because they were soooo hungry that they ate all the leaves from two big plants.

When we had finally set all the caterpillars free, we made a big mural showing the lifecycle of the Monarch Butterfly and we shared it at our school assembly. We were very proud of our work.

This term we are looking forward to learning about different insects as part of our minibeasts topic. As part of the 'tuning in' process, we visited the Otago Museum. Today we worked with Mrs CB in the computer suite and created some pictures of some of the minibeasts we saw at the museum. We hope you like our pictures. We can’t wait to learn more amazing facts about these creatures and many more.
